OE-15, Sculpture for Sarah Oppenheimer
(Situ, New York)
(In collaboration with Sarah Oppenheimer)

My involvement in this project was primarily around the fabrication-part of the process, and not on the design or the actual installment. I did, within the studio, many mock-ups, both in regards of the material tests, veneer directional visualizations, constructional concepts, as well as digital prototyping through Grasshopper for Rhino, in-house CNC-testing and laminating tests ... each material requires a different set of fabrication methods, a different perspective on direction, cutting-/drilling method as well as fixing technique.

Sometimes, you find an entire process similar to that of a building design, within the projects of a smaller scale.

I loved how my previous skills as a construction worker came into play here, where things had to align, and all the details in this fairly downscaled sculpture were to be very precise and give off a sense of a whole, coherent object (which, again, set the detail-level requirements of the objects relatively high).

The internal wire system, that were to hold it into place, where also an essential part of the design process.
