Landmarks
(Norrøn)

At Norrøn, I was responsible for two projects: Byens Spisebord (*The City's Dining Table) and Overblikket (*The Overlook). Acting as project architect, I was responsible for securing funding, planning and coordinating the volunteers from CELF, obtaining quotations, developing the design and project documentation for both installations, and overseeing construction on site, including follow-up throughout the process.

Byens Spisebord and Overblikket are the first two landmarks along the Copenhagen–Berlin cycle route. They were realised as part of the Powered by Cycling: Panorama project, supported by the European Regional Development Fund, Arbejdsmarkedets Feriefond, Friluftsrådet, and the project's other partners.

Byens Spisebord takes its point of departure from the historic coastal protection structure, whose distinctive stonework defines the shape of the harbour, as well as from the active social life already taking place at Hesnæs Harbour. The installation serves as a resting place for cycle tourists and a social gathering point for tourists, local residents, and other visitors to the harbour.

Overblikket, located at Stevns Chalk Quarry, offers passers-by a view down into the vast white quarry and its striking azure-blue lakes. The installation frames this man-made landscape, which is continually transformed by ongoing excavation. In doing so, it highlights the chalk quarry as an integral part of the cultural landscape surrounding Stevns Klint and the wider limestone region of Kalklandet.

The projects were realised with support from Østdansk Turisme, Det Classenske Fideicommis, Wienerberger, CELF, the European Regional Development Fund, Friluftsrådet, Arbejdsmarkedets Feriefond, and Værkstedet Åvænget.
